 University Students Use of SNS Survey Analysis

My research topic: Use of SNS

Target: Japanese University students 

Number of respondents: 14

Summary: Students answered 14 questions about SNS.

Graph#1 shows that students use which kinds of SNS. LINE, YouTube and Instagram are used by most students. However, only one person is using Facebook. According to my Internet research, Facebook is the most popular SNS in the world and many users are in their 30s and 40s. Therefore, there are few students who use the service, and this is the reason for this result.

Graph#2 shows that which kind of SNS do you like the most? Almost everyone chose either Instagram or Line. No one chose YouTube, Facebook, or TikTok.

Graph#3 shows the results of the question about why they think the app is the best. There are some reasons. The reasons for choosing the app include ease of use and to communicate with friends. Instagram is also used to find out about delicious food and sightseeing spots

Graph#4 shows that which is the best video subscription service. Video subscriptions are available for anime, drama movies, and more. More than half of the students chose Amazon Prime Video and a quarter of the students chose Netflix. Amazon Prime is the most popular because of its student discount. Amazon Prime's student discount is an affordable 250 yen per month. It is  easy for students to join subscription if they don't have enough money.

Graph#5 shows that result of which is the best music subscription service. Two-thirds of students choose Apple Music or Spotify. According to my research, Apple Music and Spotify have family sharing plans. They also offer student discounts, so it's easy to fit them into your lifestyle and save money!

Graph#6 shows that result of what time do you usually use SNS most often. The most selected answers are 20:00 and 23:00. The results show that many people use SNS after having dinner, after taking a bath, and before going to bed.

Graph#7 shows that how much do you use SNS per day? The results for this question are quite varied. More than half of the students use social networking sites for 2-4 hours per day. Contacting friends, watching videos and so on, tend to increase the amount of time spent per day

List#8 shows that what do you think positive points of SNS. The most common answers are that they can communicate with friends and various people, and that they can get a variety of information from SNS.

List#9 shows that what do you think are negative points of SNS. There are various ideas. For example, the Internet damage our eyes, they spend SNS most of time, they can leak personal information...

There are many negative effects, so we must be careful when using SNS. This is because many of them have a negative impact on us!

Most students value convenience when they use SNS. However, opinions are divided on what is the least value. Safety and popularity are voted be many people. I'm surprised that safety is the least important factor for many people.

Graph#11 shows do you have multiple accounts on SNS. The reason why I asked this question is because I wanted to know how many people are making use of the multiple accounts. According to List#12, many people who have multiple accounts have two accounts : a real account to contact friends, and an account for information about their hobbies and so on.

Graph#13 shows that have you ever been involved in trouble with SNS. The reason why I asked this question is because SNS are widely spreading and the number of problems cause by SNS is increasing. However, no one has ever gotten into SNS trouble!

List#14 shows what do you think we should pay attention to in order to avoid getting into SNS trouble? There are many ideas. Furthermore, all the opinions written are very important! It is important to think for yourself and use SNS appropriately to avoid getting into trouble!

Conclusion

This survey is very interesting to me and very useful!

I think I needed to make good use of SNS to contact your friends and get the information I need. I also have to be careful not to hurt people and  use it in the wrong way when using SNS.
